About Fifteen Melbourne
With its long awaited grand opening in September 2006, Fifteen Melbourne opened not only its doors to our eager public, but also to a group of unemployed youths. Fifteen Melbourne the fourth restaurant of its kind to join the "Fifteen family" which was started by Chef Jamie Oliver in the UK, 2002.
Our Melbourne born Executive Head Chef, Tobie Puttock, had spent 2 ½ years working with Jamie at Fifteen London, and was the obvious choice to lead the first restaurant of this unique concept in Australia. Tobie and his qualified culinary team will inspire 20 young people each year through this training programme that helps them to fit into society and follow a career path in the restaurant business.
The entrance to this diverse restaurant is located down George parade, in the cosy basement, 115 Collins street. You are welcomed by medieval wood and iron doors lit up with signature hot pink lighting.
The dining room is split over three areas:
The white room is a light and airy space with a view of the open plan kitchen, while the dark room is for intimate cosy lounge dining, highlighted by warm tones. Upon entering the private dining room, you are struck by the 19th century gold framed oil paintings. Take a seat with close friends at our stunning walnut dining table with a funky eclectic chandelier. Spy through to the window into the pasta kitchen and see for yourself how much the trainees have learnt. Its one experience you don't want to miss.
The white marble bar is a knockout, unusual in that you can sit and be served on either side. It's back dropped by multicoloured wine shelving featuring wines and liqueurs from our extensive wine/drinks list. Fifteen also prides its self on the extensive Italian based cocktail list and personable service.
The menus are designed in belief of keeping it simple by using the best of local Victorian and Australian produce and organic/bio dynamic where possible, thus allowing our Italian inspired dishes to speak for themselves.
Offering an a la carte menu for lunch, Fifteen strives to use the freshest seasonal produce and the menu's change daily. In the evening we have two menus on offer, the evening a la carte menu or the tasting menu (6 courses). To accompany the tasting menu, the sommelier team produce a wine degustation matching flavours and texture, available at an additional cost.
We are currently only taking bookings for groups of 5 or more as well as for functions and the exclusive hire of the restaurant. We are operating on a walk-in basis for smaller tables and are asking patrons to make their way to the restaurant to organise a table. Any queries can be clarified by calling 1300 799 415 or by e-mailing reservations@fifteenmelbourne.com.au.
The magic of television helped millions of people watch the trials and tribulations, of the next generation of star chefs. Learning to balance the needs of a busy high profile restaurant, with those of the young apprentices makes the "Fifteen" experience even more memorable. A percentage of the profits from "Fifteen" go to the Fifteen Foundation Australia, to provide these young people with the working environment in which to expand their knowledge and practical experience; setting "Fifteen" aside from any other restaurant in Melbourne.
