About Brisbane

As the capital of Queensland and Australia's third largest city, Brisbane has it all. With bright sunny days and balmy nights, Brisbane is Australias only sub-tropical capital city, presenting visitors with a stimulating city experience in a friendly, relaxed environment. Make a journey to downtown Brisbane and you'll realise how beautiful a city can be. Brisbane's array of restaurants and sidewalk cafes show this city has embraced al fresco dining and fine cuisine like no other. Spend lazy afternoons dining by the tranquil Brisbane River, enjoy eclectic cuisine at intimate inner city restaurants, or indulge in authentic cosmopolitan flavours at West End or Chinatown. Alternatively Fortitude Valley, South Brisbane, New Farm, Toowong, Camp Hill, & Paddington are just some of the other main dining hubs where you will find quality cuisine. Brisbane is also renowned for its buzzing nightlife, great clubs and pubs, and the Queen Street Mall in the city's centre is a shopper's paradise.

When to Visit Brisbane

Brisbane’s days are typically blessed with mild sunny weather year round. Temperatures average around 20oC in the winter months but venture inland it does get colder at night. The summer months, November to April, tend to suffer from higher levels of humidity, although the countryside may be at its best after the rains have nurtured new plant growth (Average temperature 19 - 28°C). It’s arguable, but the best time to visit is during the winter, between May & October) when temperatures are cooler and rainfall is low (Average temperature 12 - 23°C).

Getting Around Brisbane

Brisbane’s Domestic and International Airports are located approximately 15-20 minutes drive (13 km) from the city centre. Busses, trains and taxis are available from the terminal. Getting around Brisbane is easy - the city is serviced by a variety of public and private transport options including train, bus, ferry, taxi, and bicycle. Driving in Brisbane is made easy by excellent roads and extensive highway/freeway networks. Signage is also usually pretty good.
