A visit to Bathurst is hardly complete without a visit to Mount Panorama. Bathurst is the capital of Australian Touring Car Racing. It is the home of the Bathurst 1000 motor race, held each October. The track is 6.213 km long, and is technically a street circuit, as the Mountain is home to a number of residents. Mount Panorama is for most of the year a public road where you can experience for yourself (at 60km) the challenges of this world famous circuit. (Police regularly patrol the circuit).
